Treatment of Acne Scars

The PicoSure significantly improves skin texture, by treating both the raised scars and indentations caused by acne. The treatment has FDA approval*, so you can be confident in its efficacy and safety.

Each treatment typically takes up to 20-30 minutes. Most clients will experience a tingling sensation during treatment, but this is quite tolerable. The total number of treatments recommended will depend on the severity of the scarring; typically 4-6 treatments are needed and these can be carried out every 4-6 weeks.

There is some redness of the skin immediately after treatment, but this quickly subsides over 24 hours. A concealing post-procedure foundation can be used if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does laser scar treatment work?

Unlike surgery, laser scar treatment uses short pulses of micro-fine laser light to reach deeply into the skin’s sub-layers. The body’s natural healing process sweeps away older, damaged tissue and rebuilds it with fresh, new collagen and elastin—the crucial building blocks of normal-looking skin. It’s a fast and simple procedure that’s easy to tolerate and requires little-to-no downtime.

What types of scars can be treated?

Laser treatment is FDA approved for surgical scars and acne scars on any area of the body, including the face.

Am Ia good candidate for this procedure?

Laser scar removal can work on many skin types, including very light and very dark skin.

How long does it take?

The procedure takes 20-30 minutes or less, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Does it hurt?

The clinician will do everything possible to make this a comfortable experience. Most people will experience a slight prickling and your skin may feel warm.

How many treatments will I need?

Most people need 4–6 treatment sessions to achieve optimum results. Typically, the deeper the scars, the more treatment sessions will be needed.

How quickly will I recover?

The area treated will initially appear red, but this starts subsiding after 3 hours and has usually resolved after 24hours. Most people resume regular activities immediately following the treatment session. Make-up can be applied post-treatment, if necessary.

Are there any side effects?

Occasionally there may be some swelling at the treatment site and this might last for a few days.
